Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare for each committee meeting by reading material distributed prior to the meeting
• Attend at least 75% of regular and special committee meetings and participate in proceedings
• Provide advance notice to the committee chair/co-chair if unable to attend a regular or special committee meeting
• Maintain knowledge of current HL programs and activities
• Serve as advocate of the HL
• Fulfill agreed upon commitments within the agreed upon deadlines
• Hold in confidence any information given to the committee

Education Committee

This is the 16^th year that the Hispanic League's Middle School Achiever's Program has been in place. We visit seven Middle Schools three times throughout the year to speak to the students about staying focused and staying in school. College students and professionals share their stories of struggle and triumph with the students as well as celebrate the successes of the students at year's end. 

Fiesta Committee

The Fiesta Committee will plan, develop, and implement the Annual Fiesta Street Festival in September. The committee is responsible for overseeing the entire event activities including, but not limited to, logistics, sponsorships, entertainment, food and drinks, arts and crafts, children’s area, cultural stage and volunteers.  The committee collaborates with other Hispanic League committees to ensure the day has successful results according with the Hispanic League’s plans and expectations.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for developing and reviewing fiscal procedures, monthly financial reports, a fundraising plan, and annual budget with staff and other Board members.  The Treasurer is chair of the Finance Committee.

Marketing & Development Committee

The Marketing & Development Committee works together to develop the Hispanic League’s marketing and media opportunities in efforts to more effectively serve the Hispanic/Latino community and promote Hispanic cultural awareness throughout the Triad. The committee works on year-round media and marketing opportunities and communicates vital return on investment for sponsors. This committee also helps focus on developmental priorities for the Hispanic League and assists in coordinating development opportunities to continue funding educational scholarships and service needs for the Hispanic/Latino community.
 

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is responsible for all recruiting efforts, membership drives, members meetings, and other activities whose purpose is to obtain and retain active members of the Hispanic League.

Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee oversees the comprehensive scholarship award process by refining criteria, advising on process and procedures for applications, supporting marketing efforts to publicize the availability of scholarships and soliciting applications. Reviewing input from the organization administering and processing the scholarship applications based on academic merit and financial need, and assigning scholarships according to established criteria that complement the sponsor’s suggested guidelines; soliciting funds designated for scholarships from corporations, businesses, families and individuals, and cultivating relationships with these sponsors throughout the year; and organizing the scholarship recipients’ orientation and planning the presentation of awards at the annual Spanish Nite Gala, in addition to any other tasks needed to make the event a success.

Spanish Nite Committee

The Spanish Nite Committee will plan, develop, and implement the Annual Spanish Nite Gala during April to present scholarship recipients’ their awards. The committee is responsible for overseeing the entire event activities including logistics, theme, keynote speaker, music, food, reservations and seating, silent auction and volunteers; and liaising with other Hispanic League committees to ensure the evening has successful results according with the Hispanic League’s plans and expectations.
